Home Buyer's Tips

You aren't expected to be a real estate expert, that’s what I am here for. Whether it’s your first time buying a home or it’s been a while, here are some great tips to keep in mind the next time you’re in the market for a new home:

Spend Your Time Doing Your Research: You may find the house of your dreams on your first day of looking. But avoid falling in love too soon, before you’ve seen what else is available and learn about the neighborhood. Also, you may have to be patient and wait for more homes to be listed in a tight real estate market.

Budget for extra costs. You will need to budget for not only closing costs, but a home inspection, relocation costs, and local property taxes. When all is said and done, these costs typically add at least an additional 10 percent to your total purchase price.

Get a home inspection. For most people, buying a home is probably the biggest purchase they’ll ever make, it’s also one of the most emotionally invested — which can make it difficult to see a house for its true value. Enter the professional home inspector. For about $300-$500, you will receive an unbiased, detailed report assessing the condition of every aspect of the property, with special notes regarding any areas of concern.
